In the cartoon strip above, Donkey verbalizes how I’ve felt the last few days – I kept thinking I needed to post to my blog but couldn’t come up with much to say, much less a title – and for me, having a great title is a must before I can post!  So I read “Pearls Before Swine” this morning and laughed at how in tune Stephen Pastis is with my life right now.

Actually I’ve just been rocking along with this new life getting used to the fact that whatever doesn’t get done today, may (or may not) get done tomorrow but for most items on my “to do” list it doesn’t matter!  Sure there are some things I need to do for volunteer commitments I’ve made – and they manage to get done – but much of the other crap on my mental list is on the back burner while I float in the pool, ride my bike, read, knit…..etc, etc.

I did stop by Cox on Friday morning to sign some papers in HR and pick up my pay stub at the office.  It was fun to see everyone and I answered a few questions from my replacement but I was happy to know she doesn’t foresee needing any assistance from me beyond a phone call or two this summer.  She’s in the middle of her first solo budget and hearing her comments and work hours made me happy I’m not a part of that process any longer.  Further proof comes from fellow blogger and friend Nancy whose posts frequently refer to the hassle she has endured these last few weeks to get her budget submitted.  My sympathies Nancy!  It’s nice to be a has-been.

I finally got logged onto the Weight Watchers website and love it – my left brain responds well to the Points Tracker and it’s helping me keep track of what I eat and to plan out my daily intake.  This evening we’re going to a potluck picnic at church which would usually be a free-for-all for my tummy but I already know I’m going to eat a hamburger (skip the cheese – 2 points at least) and then I’ll fill up on lots of fruits and veggies since that’s the kind of stuff people bring to picnics.  And I’ll skip the chips totally and go very easy on anything like pasta salad.  I have a plan – I’m good!

Friday night we tried a different restaurant – BamBu – which is Vietnamese and one which we highly recommend and where we’ll eat again.  Then we went to see “Get Smart” which was okay – not nearly as funny as the original TV series but then remakes seldom are.

We took the MG on its first trip out of the garage this year since Burl had to rebuild the gas tank – and when we came out of the movies at 10:00 the starter/flywheel was locked!  Fortunately we were able to borrow a flashlight from the theatre and Burl had us on our way home in no time.  Today he has worked on the starter plus installed a light under the hood and fixed the turn signals so we can drive it to church for the potluck tonight.  Which reminds me………I need to go finish up the deviled eggs I’m taking!
