Well after 4 nights at home we’re taking off again – this time to St. Louis for the Shrine Imperial. Since there is a motorcycle ride tomorrow plus a parade on Tuesday evening, Burl is riding the motorcycle in a downpour while I follow all nice and dry in the other Honda! I’ve had a hard time getting psyched for this trip but after all, he drove me to LA for Rotary and is always supportive of what I do so I understand the payback concept!
We are managing to fit in some fun stuff to make it a bit more palatable – tomorrow night we’re having dinner with long-time buddy Sally and her honey John at their home. We met over 50 years ago at Girl Scout Camp Pin Oak and became fast friends – roomed together in college, were sorority sisters, stood up for each other at our first weddings, are godmothers to each others’ firstborns and then supported each other through divorces. She always reminds me that I got the best ex and I have to agree! We don’t see each other often but have an annoying habit of picking up right where we left things and entertaining each other royally!
Monday night we have tickets to see the Cardinals play the Mets – then Tuesday we are going to tour a Motorcycle Museum and then have lunch with my cousin Don whom I haven’t seen for several years (although we keep in touch regularly via email). We’ll be staying at the Hilton Ballpark Inn downtown and since I’ll have my own set of wheels I’m sure I can scurry up some fun – shopping, zoo, art museum, whatever…….
Best of all, when we return, Ralph and the girls will be here for a long visit. Can’t wait to hold those darling little granddaughters and spoil them rotten.
