Hangin’ Out In Phoenix

We are having a wonderful couple of days just relaxing in Phoenix with Mike, Annie and Devin.  Yesterday the guys played golf and Annie and I took Devin on his first long shopping expedition to Scottsdale Mall.  We were there 4 hours but that included a couple of stops for him to eat lunch and later take a bottle, lunch time for us and then an unplanned stop to clean up the Mother of All Diaper Blowouts!  It took both of us to clean up Devin and his stroller and we were laughing so hard about the whole incidence.  Annie was relieved she had assistance from someone who didn’t mind her son’s poop!

Signs of the economic downturn were all over this ritzy mall with at least 3 store closings and lots of big sales.  Our first stop was at Sigrid Olsen where everything was 70% plus another 25% off so Annie and I scored gorgeous new purses – hers is an orchid patent leather and mine is an eggplant leather that’s soft as buttah!  Devin was an angel the whole time, even when wallowing in a pile of it!

We got home and all got in the pool – even though it was 114 outside it was nice in their shady pool and Devin was like a little fish trying to dog-paddle around while Mike held on to him.  Mike fixed a yummy dinner of grilled chicken with white BBQ sauce, brown rice and fresh green beans accompanied by cold beer – hard to beat.

This morning Burl and I took off on our bikes along the canal system and got in about 30 miles of riding before it got too hot.  Now we are showered and ready to take off for the day with the family before we attend a party tonight for Mike’s graduation from being an intern to a full resident.

Happy 1st day of summer!
