Local News Update

It’s hard to be in LA without constantly hearing about 2 events – the Lakers lost the NBA championship to the Boston Celtics last evening and California legalized gay marriage sending a flurry of gays and lesbians to the altar yesterday on the first day they could officially “marry”.  I’ll reserve my comments on either of these events and give my snaps to this state for creating a new law effective July 1st requiring all drivers to use hands-free cell phones.  Now that is a law worth implementing and may save lives.  When will Missouri wise up to that one?  We’ve already had our say on gay marriages and I doubt that question will rear its head again soon in our conservative state.

It’s the last day of the Rotary Convention for me so I’m off to the closing plenary session where I get to cast votes for my club – a scenario that will be ceremonial in nature since everything is pretty much a done deal.  Then I’m off on Amtrak to San Diego to join Burl.  Adios!
