California Here We Come   Leave a comment

Day #1 of Life 2.0 did not disappoint in the least.  For some reason I had set my alarm but when it went off, I was wide awake and rarin’ to go and I realized I had slept better than I had in a long time.  I had my coffee on the deck while I read the paper – then took Mulligan for a long walk after breakfast followed by a 25-mile bike ride.  It was a beautiful summer day and not yet too hot – just perfect for being out biking.

I had a few errands to run but then came home and planted some flowers, did some yard work and finally treated myself to the first dip in the pool.  It was surprisingly pleasant and not freezing cold so I relaxed and tried out my new pool floatie that I received yesterday.  Burl got home from the Shrine around 5:00 and we watched Big Brown go down in defeat in the Belmont Stakes – then grilled out some salmon and have spent the rest of the evening packing since we leave for California early in the morning.

Judging from the bags we have packed and our hanging items, it’s hard to believe all this really will fit into the motorcycle trailer but Burl assures me it will!  Since we’ll be gone for 17 days we are taking plenty – it will be more than we need but that’s how we always pack!  I’m faced with having to take business casual for the Rotary convention so that necessitates adding a whole new dimension to my normal wardrobe of jeans, t-shirts, shorts, sandals, etc.

Guess I’d better do one last check to insure I haven’t forgotten anything.  We’re going to hit the road early – ride for an hour or so and then have breakfast in Oklahoma and should be sleeping in Amarillo tomorrow night.  Assuming I can get wireless connection, I’ll iBlog from the road.
