I like to think of one-word descriptions so today while driving to work, I pondered a word to match my feelings on this, my last official day of my career at CoxHealth. Weird, odd, bizarre, unrealistic, dreamlike – all are alternate words Roget uses for surreal and they work. I’m sitting in my office which is barren not exactly knowing how I should feel today but somehow it still doesn’t seem 100% real.
Last evening some of my female friends from work hosted a Happy Hour for me at Touch and it was so fun to sit around for a couple of hours reminiscing about experiences at Cox plus look forward to what lies ahead. I got a plethora of great cards along with some nice gifts but most important was the love and friendship I experienced. Tammy got to join in on the fun and I was so glad she was there to share it with me.
I had my last budget-related meeting this morning and now need to dust my office furniture and get ready for a luncheon with my office crew followed by a reception in the Board Room. I’ve kept the tears to a minimum so far today but there’s no guarantee for my final hours.
Dust your office furniture?! Are you kidding me?! Leave that to Amanda or the cleaning crew. If you’re that bored, do some more blog posting. Just don’t be dusting your office. That’s crazy talk!
Well Tammy, apparently you didn’t pay attention when your mother told you that you can never go wrong by doing the right thing. So I dusted the bookcases, credenza and file cabinets which prompted Amanda to do the same in her office that will go to Christina. It’s much better to be the good example than the bad example!
PS – I did take everything off the desk and left a note for the cleaning crew to clean the glass top on the desk – didn’t want them to feel left out of the process!
