Down to three days remaining at work and there is still a lot to clear out of my office! Jeez Louise – but it has been rather fun to discover some of the “goodies” I saved through the years – memos I wrote, presentations I gave, cartoons in the archives plus old employee manuals. I got online last evening and in the course of 20 minutes applied for Social Security. According to the website, I needed to send in my original birth certificate along with some other documents but by 10:00 this morning I had received a call from a Soc Sec field rep who went through another round of info and then told me I didn’t need to send in a thing – I’m all signed up and the 2nd Wednesday of August I will officially be on the government dole! The rest of you guys had better watch out – the Baby Boomers are starting to collect en mass!
Tonight we attended the Leadership Springfield annual dinner and silent auction where we once again showed our prowess for buying a bunch of stuff we really could live without – but it’s sure tough to pass up a bargain.
Just finished making plans to camp out in the Anza-Barrego Dessert next Friday night with a group of motorcycling Rotarians – now we need to find a B&B in the Monterrey area for a night or two next week. Watch out Google – here I come.
3 more days… woohoo!! See you Friday at your retirement party … will actually be the first one that I’ve been to at Cox — wouldn’t miss your’s for the world! And you’re already making plans for your first week of Life2.0… it involves CAMPING OUT!? I think the B&B sounds much more enjoyable!
