License for Stupidity

It’s official – I now live in the state where people are certifiably STUPID!  Seems the Missouri Department of Revenue held on online contest last year for the new state license plates and the voters approved a design which was not grammatically correct.  However, the Dept of Revenue says they can’t correct that error since obviously ignorant people didn’t catch it!  We are now the Showme state where previously we were the Show-Me state!  Where the heck are the Grammar Police when you need them?

Come on people – don’t we pay these “state officials” to at least use common sense?  Don’t they at a minimum have to pass a test that proves they are smarter than a 5th grader because I can assure you that when my daughters were in 5th grade, they would have noticed the error and been quick to point it out to everyone within earshot.

Fortunately I have personalized plates that are not subject to change to the new design – or else I’d be forced to drive around with a grammatically incorrect plate shouting to the world “I live in Missouri – home of people ………….” – oh never mind, you get the message!  After all, this is the same state that elected a dead man to the Senate in 2000 – need I say more?

To quote son-in-law Steve “What if people had voted us the ‘F%#* Me’ state – would they have left that on the license plates?”  Will someone please rescue me before I’m forced to move out of state?

  1. That is freakin’ ridiculous. I can’t believe that we will now have that on our license plates… surely they will not allow that to go through. I agree with Steve — glad it was a democracy to decide what the plate was, but geez- let’s use a little common sense here.

  2. I will not be paying for these stupid plates. I really hope enough people complain to get them changed. Show Me State, my ass. More like the Show Me How Stupid We Are State.

  3. An’ um proud t’ be un Amerikin!
