We Meet Again   Leave a comment

The Women of Substance met tonight for dinner and conversation – dinner this time was Ocean Zen (my very favorite) and as always, it didn’t disappoint.  I opted for a couple of appetizers for my dinner because our dinner was sandwiched between Vickie’s birthday last week and Robin’s next week and we had to have the S’mores Fondue to celebrate!

They now anticipate that our talk topics will be blog fodder so to placate them, I took a few notes!  Here are the tidbits:

  • Since my birthday and anniversary are the same day, I call it my Birthiversary.  Vickie and her hubby share a birthday so we had to come up with a name for it – the best we could do was “Bi-Birthday”.  Any other suggestions?
  • The Glamour Shots photos of Robin’s exchange student were fabulous – and pricey – but sure looked like fun.  Oh to be 17 again and know what I know now!
  • Can you qualify for Momnesia if your parenting is limited to 4 months of a foreign exchange student?  We voted “yes”.
  • Robin’s new job has a corporate culture that fosters teamwork to the extent that if one group is pulling a project, other teams either pitch in and help or sign up to bring in home-cooked meals for those working long hours.
  • When Robin was a bank teller in Columbia years ago, she was robbed at gunpoint – the robber was caught 2 years later and she had to testify in court.  She enlightened up with tales of how they alert others on the premises to the fact that a robbery is in process.
  • Puppy love is still in vogue – and we all agreed that we wouldn’t have shared detail with our mothers although Vickie is fortunate to be privvy to her daughter’s crush of the month.
  • If money were no object, Robin would be a teller, Vickie would be a waitress and I would be a community volunteer.
  • Vickie once again sacrified “Survivor” to have dinner with us – she says we trump her show any time.  Thanks Vick!
  • Wedding anniversary #13 is signified with fur and lace – so Robin got a beautiful gold and diamond bracelet in a fur pouch plus something lacy in a 2-toned pink striped bag that shall remain a “secret”!  Somehow she gets by with only giving hubby a card – wouldn’t fly at my house.

Of course we had some censored conversations that shall remain confidential in order to protect the innocent – or guilty!  A fun evening with dear friends – and next month we go to Hickock’s.  Here’s hoping the weather will have improved.

Now I must pack – have to be on the road early in the morning with friends headed to Hot Springs for the races – and 3-5″ of snow.  Will winter ever end?
