Since I’m leaving early in the morning for another 2-day Girl Scout meeting, I’m sending an early “Happy Anniversary” to Tammy and Steve who will celebrate their official 3rd anniversary tomorrow, February 29th. It has been 12 years since their nuptials were featured on KY3 as part of the 1996 Leap Year festivities (the don’t call me the Budget Queen for nothing – I got it videotaped for free!) and I’m sure they will both say it’s the best decision they ever made.
I state for the world to read that the reservations I had were entirely unfounded and Tammy and Steve were right – but I had the normal maternal concern for such a short courtship before becoming engaged. Little did I know that a few years later, I would make their 6-week relationship look like an eternity when Burl and I became engaged after knowing each other for only 10 days. However – at the time I was oblivious to love at first sight and I’m thrilled that they proved me wrong.
They bring joy to our family and I love them both so very much. Steve learned early on that the best defense is “yes dear” and he knows the value of shoe shopping to Tammy’s mental state – most of all, he is our son – to hell with the “in-law” stuff!
Here’s to many more anniversaries and lots of celebrating in the off years too!
