I came home tonight, drove in the driveway, hit the garage door opener and knew immediately that we had been robbed. How else to explain a clean garage capable of holding 2 vehicles – something I haven’t seen in the 6 years I’ve lived in this house! But closer inspection revealed that the GoldWing, trailer and mini-cruiser are now happily living in the new garage (which passed county inspection with flying colors!) and dear hubby (a man full of surprises) had actually cleaned the garage! Wow!
I’m beginning to wonder if I really know him – he’s also sorting through boxes of “stuff” in the basement and tells me he’s actually disposing of some items. Given his packrat nature I’ll believe that when I see it but I’m hoping for some consolidation and organization – labeling of contents, putting like items together, that sort of thing. Should I be suspicious that he’s doing these chores without me nagging at him – or is he fearful that if they aren’t done, I’ll hijack his tee times this summer and hold him hostage until these other chores are complete? Whatever the reason, I’m doing what my mother would want me to do – saying “thank you” and telling him The Big Lie (see 1/1/08 blog entry, item #7 for reference)!
Ha! I think you’re right… he may be trying to get it done now, knowing that it will be on your “list” once you are retired this summer.
I like the new look too, by the way. Now that the cat’s out of the bag on your retirement, you’ve gone from that speedy car on the freeway to a quiet, peaceful scene… although I doubt your retirement will be as serene as the picture, I’m sure you’ll STILL be busy, just doing more of what you like!
If he’s still in the mood for cleaning, send him over to our house. We have 1/2 a garage and a basement that need some attention!
