Last weekend gave us spring-like weather along with a record high on Sunday of 71. We really wanted time on the motorcycle but instead chose to dig a 12″ deep, 6″wide and 75′ long trench from the new garage to our house so Burl could bury the electrical cable. I missed going to the gym on Sunday but that pickaxe sure gave me a different type of upper body workout!
Yesterday Burl was able to “work” (aka, play golf) overtime with a total of 27 holes and I remarked to a co-worker that the weather seemed ripe for a tornado. Little did I know how true that statement was! Starting around 5:00 yesterday afternoon the Ozarks were treated to storms, high winds, rain, lightning and multiple tornadoes until after 3:00 this morning. Fortunately we were spared any damage as were our local kids. Tammy and Steve called us about 3:00 a.m. to warn of high winds heading our way so we moved to the basement and watched the weather on TV for about 15 minutes until they called an “all clear” for Greene County – then headed back to sleep, lulled by the sound of rain on the skylight.
Most of the evening we were unfazed by the storms – we did follow them on TV after we got home from a meeting at the Shrine. For me, the biggest bonus was finishing a knitting project while watching TV – now I’m down to only 2 projects and should finish another tonight. Time to check the ever-growing stash and decide what’s next on the knitting agenda!
For those of you reading this outside our local area, never fear – the high of 55 this morning is rapidly descending to more normal temps and the winter coat will once again be part of my wardrobe!
