It’s now 2008 and the MU Tigers started the year off right for their fans with a 38-7 routing of Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl – Go Tigers! We had a mild NYE with friends at home and were just getting snuggled down for a good night’s rest when the new year arrived. My mother-in-law used to say that whatever you do on New Year’s Day sets the tone for the rest of the year so here are my accomplishments so far:
1. Exercise – at the gym before 9:00 after eating a healthy breakfast – upper body weights followed by 30 minutes on the Step Mill.
2. Shopping – at Dillard’s – 50% off already-reduced prices! If one pair of Cole-Haan leather boots at 70% off is good then 2 is even better. And yes, they are black – one pair of tall ones, one pair of short. Of course I ended my weeks-long quest for the perfect boot at the perfect price on the day the News-Leader announced that tall boots are out and ankle booties are in – but then my daughters will attest that I’ve never been on the leading edge of fashion!
3. Socializing – drove to Branson to enjoy lunch with friends from the Shrine Cruisers – ate at Famous Dave’s BBQ which was excellent – we’ll eat there again.
4. Knitting – in the car on the way to and from Branson. Must finish 3 projects so I can start the next one and have something to take on our trip later this month. Now I need to work on my Ravelry webpage – enter my info and figure out how to upload photos.
5. Travel – bought tickets online to go to Phoenix for a week later in the month – sure makes it easier to brave the cold winds today when warmer weather is just a few weeks away – and when we return, it will be February! While I’d prefer flying out of Springfield, I’ll cheerfully drive to Tulsa to fly non-stop and save $700. Get with the program, Springfield-Branson Regional Airport! (NOTE – travel update – before the day was over we booked Burl’s trip to Salt Lake City to ski with Stacey – after factoring in gas and parking, it truly was more economical to fly from Springfield so we can support our local airport)
6. Reading – got in a couple of chapters of Loving Frank plus knocked off a couple of magazines from my accumulation while on the Step Mill. And the day’s not over yet!
7. Big Lie – told Burl “The Big Lie” as 2007 ended and as 2008 began – what better way to finish one year and begine the next. For a full explanation, see Tammy’s blog for 12/15/07.
8. Sudoku – the addiction continues……
9. Family – wished both daughters a Happy New Year as well as Burl’s kids. And of course Mulligan got The Big Lie soon after I told Burl at midnight.
10. Cooking – NOT TODAY – I wouldn’t want to spoil the my reputation!!! The big meal was BBQ and if we eat again, there are plenty of leftovers in the refrigerator.
May your 2008 be full of magical moments and may today set a pattern for every day to follow.
Sounds like a great day! I’d be happy to give you a Ravelry tutorial. You’ll be addicted soon! I sent you an invite for some groups you might like.
