Finally – an event that put me in the true spirit of Christmas. Our church choir presented their Christmas cantata today and it was fabulous. Complete with orchestra and a resounding brass section, the music and words, along with passages from Isaiah and Luke, allowed me to get off the commercial Christmas treadmill and think about why we really celebrate this occasion. And why what happened over 2000 years ago in Bethlehem really does matter to me today.
To further drive home that spirit, we went to 2 open houses and had our last Christmas dinner party today – whew! Much as I like seeing friends, these last few weeks have been sensory overload and I’m ready for a little relaxation before Brown’s B&B opens for holiday business starting Friday. I only have a few stray gifts left to buy and wrap, just a few more cards on which I will write notes, our office luncheon at work and then voila! I can enjoy my very favorite part of Christmas which is the Christmas Eve candlelight communion service at church. Where have you found your Christmas Spirit?
