We have a new garage – or should I say, BURL has a new garage! When we met he got along quite nicely with our 2-car garage – but once I arrived in his life I added my trusty Accord and since I’m the one who wants a nice warm vehicle in the mornings when I head to the day job, he lets me keep it in the garage. Marrying me also meant we bought the GoldWing and trailer so that rig takes up the other half of the garage along with lots of “garage junk”!
So last year when Burl bought a new truck, it was relegated to being parked in the circle drive in front of the house. He figured out that if he could find another spot for the motorcycle he could actually park this behemoth next to my little Accord – so we now have a new free-standing single car garage which will hold the GoldWing, trailer and even his mini-Cruiser. I didn’t realize how excited he would get over this whole project but he has been able to put that Master’s in Industrial Arts to good use helping supervise the pouring of the concrete pad and the construction of the garage. He installed the man-door himself and will put in the garage door opener – and he has wired it for electricity and will complete the siding. I’m encouraged because in order to get the Silverado in the garage, he is actually going to have to clean and/or rearrange his “garage junk” and while I’m not naive enough to think he will actually throw anything away, I’m hopeful that at least some of it will move to his workshop. He gave me a “tour” last evening and has already decided it should have been bigger! We’ve decided the garage is our Christmas gift to each other so I guess I need to find a big red bow for it – or maybe just a wreath.
FYI for my readers who are in the Springfield area – don’t miss Winterfest at Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts this weekend. Daughter Tammy will have her display on the 2nd floor and would love to see new and current customers both – she has lots of new items for Christmas gifts or for yourself. You can even tell her your wish list and she’ll talk to your own personal Santa! I’ll be there helping her on Friday evening but Winterfest is also on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is FREE which just leaves you more $ for shopping.
Congratulations on the new garage – can’t wait to see it. You failed to mention that Mr. Master in Industrial Arts hit the phone line and knocked out service for several hours while working on the garage! Heehee! Oh well, at least he knew how to fix it! Burl, you know I’m just kidding you!
