Headin’ Home   Leave a comment

The luggage has been relinquished to the baggage handlers, the boarding pass is in hand and we have been through security so now we are waiting for our flight. As usual when we allow plenty of time the traffic flowed smoothly and we had no lines in which to wait when we got to the commuter terminal. Just looking forward to a safe flight to Tulsa, easy trip home and then we can see Mulligan!

Yesterday we played tourists under Len’s guidance. Brunch was at Richard Walker’s House of Pancakes – a favorite spot when we used to visit the kids in Chicago so Len was happy to find a west coast location.   The pancakes were just as yummy as we remembered and a bonus was outdoor seating.

Then we walked along the harbor before heading to Coronado. The last time we were there it was raining but this time we had clear skies. I wanted to see the hotel Del Coronado so Len dropped us off and we walked around the grounds and gawked and then explored the pricey boutiques.

Next we headed south toward Tiajuana not planning to actually cross the boarder but when Len missed the last US exit it looked like Mexico was imminent! Luckily Burl saw a sign for a final U turn so we were saved!

Heading back north we stopped at the beach to watch some guys doing kite surfing – amazing to see them jump and slice through the waves. Next stop was the Old Point Loma lighthouse at Cabrillo National Park. Great museum and lots of neat exhibits plus a walk along the beach.

We picked Stacey up from work and headed to Moonlight Beach with hopes of seeing the sunset but the clouds interferred. Have to wait until our next trip. We finished the day with dinner at Pei Wei which is a casual place owned by P F Chang’s. Best of all they had the same lettuce wraps to accompany a yummy dinner and glass of wine.

Time to board – more later!
