Greetings from San Diego! The air has a faint smoky odor but other than that it’s hard to believe this area was under wildfire siege just a few days ago.
We’ve had a couple of fun-filled days starting yesterday morning when we met our friends Dave and JoAnn at Mimi’s for breakfast. They are friends who moved from Springfield to Sun Lakes a few years ago to play bridge and tennis as well as ride their red GoldWing. We try to see them as often as possible and especially in the fall since we share wedding anniversaries. Last year was a memorable motorcycle trip to Sedona complete with a hike into the canyons at which point we got caught in rain. 3 years ago we took a motorcycle trip to La Jolla and also enjoyed rainy weather. But yesterday we basked in the sun and enjoyed breakfast on the patio and caught up on our lives. Hopefully we’ll repeat the la Jolla trip without the rain next year.
The afternoon was spent enjoying a delicious luncheon and baby shower for Annie in anticipation of Devin Michael who is due to arrive at Christmas. I had knitted a baby blanket for him but the real hit gift was a little fuzzy bunny blanket for him to snuggle with that I had also knitted. Just hope Annie lets him play with it.
We opted for Mimi’s again this morning with all the family and after bidding Mike and Annie farewell we headed for San Diego. Only took 7 plus hours with all our stops but since lunch was across from Ann Taylor Loft, Stacey and I were able to get in a bit of shopping too. We got here in time to barely catch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean – we are already planning to be at the beach earlier tomorrow evening.
The guys are leaving very early in the morning in an attempt to score a tee time at Torrey Pines while Stacey, Alex and I are going to start the day with a walk on the beach and see how the day unfolds.
Sweet dreams tonight include a cool breeze coming through the windows in a home where no air conditioning exists or is even needed.
