We headed west today and arrived in Phoenix early this evening by way of San Diego. Lest you think we are directionally challenged let me explain! While we wanted to be here for Annies baby shower we also wanted cheap plane tickets! So we drove to Tulsa last evening, caught a flight to San Diego where Len and Stacey met us and all drove over the mountains and across the desert to Phoenix!
Our cheap flight was on ExpressJet where we got 2 round trip tickets for much less than we would have paid for one out of Springfield. This small airline was huge on customer service and I can only hope we can lure them to our airport soon. The plane was small but spotless with leather seats, sufficient leg room, Diet Coke to drink, breakfast and tons of tasty snacks, none of which were the standard pretzels! We were in the air at departure time and not sitting on the runway and arrived 25 minutes early. Yes you heard correctly – we were early! We came into the commuter terminal at San Diego International Airport, turned right and were immediately in front of the baggage carousel, had our luggage in less than 10 minutes and then walked about 30 feet to exit the terminal and wait for our ride! This airline actually makes flying fun again.
Our trip to Phoenix allowed us to catch up on the fire situation and while we really couldn’t smell it in the air we could sure see the smoke from the plane before we landed. Stacey and I made sure we had plenty of out stops since we each consumed large quantities of Diet Coke along the way. Had to have something to fuel us for lively conversation while I knitted.
Looking forward to a fun vacation where I am guaranteed to eat and drink more than normal. Better get up early and walk before it gets too hot
