This evening we had a guest speaker at our motorcycle group meeting. Usually we stick to either technical topics or travel info but this evening we had a rep from Smith Barney talk about Identity Theft. I thought I was pretty consumer-savvy about the topic since I read so much about it and try to put into practices all the tips I read but I learned even more this evening. What’s especially frightening is the fact that most of us have probably already had our identify stolen – we just don’t know it. And the thief/thieves may wait several years before using that info. Good food for thought and I think his talk made Burl finally realize I’m really not overzealous on the subject!
We spent the morning in Mt. Vernon at Apple Butter Days – and have to confess we didn’t so much as sample the apple butter. Guess that makes us totally un-American or something! Burl was a parade participant on his little cruiser and I played spectator. I really loved the high school bands – especially the ones that were dressed in snappy uniforms and played great marching music. Also loved the Central High School Kilties in their sharp red plaid uniforms marching to a brisk cadence.
The afternoon was devoted to closing the pool – Burl pumped the water level down and added anti-freeze to the pipe lines and then we put the cover on it. Good-by pool until next spring – I’ll eagerly anticipate my next opportunity to lounge and read under a sunny sky.
Burl is now at the Shrine mosque working at the concession stand during a 7-bout fight. I’m giving him periodic updates via phonemail on the status of the MU-OU game – at the moment the 6th ranked Sooners are a TD ahead of #11 Mizzou. I’m going to take advantage of some free time and work on cleaning out my closets and relocating summer and winter clothes. Seems that while we were gone, everything I had been wearing suddenly became out of season so I scrambled last week to find attire that would not incite the Fashion Police (or Tammy – or are they the same?)
