Vacation Update   2 comments

Still on vacation and still having fun – are you surprised!!  While the guys golfed, Agnes and I took a long walk along the nature trail that runs near their home – then we headed to Long Gove which is a neat little community.  It reminds me of Galloway Village in Springfield with its eclectic shops – probably 40-50 little places located in historic homes.  Most of them were gift shops or home decor – a few had clothing (none of which I could picture on my bod!) – found a neat yarn shop and of course the first yarn I picked up was only $75 for 3 ounces.  I was definitely out of my knitting league.

We had lunch at a little Italian restaurant – homemade pasta stuffed with spinach and gorganzola cheese and covered in a vodka suce – absolutely decadent!  Made a quick stop at TJ Maxx on the way home – then had to hit a couple of garage sales in the neighborhood.  Then headed over to see Agnes’ daughter and her family who have moved to a new home in the Fox Lake area – got the home tour and then walked down to the lake where they have their boat docked.  Barb had made reservations at a very popular pizza place so we headed over there and met her husband Terry where we enjoyed beer and pizza.

Now I’ve been researching bed and breakfasts in the Upper Peninsula to find a location for a couple of nights next week.  Right now we only have Sunday booked so thought we’d look ahead to Monday and Tuesday – looks like we’ll head west later in the week since Burl has located a place in the western U.P. that has a ski museum – oh boy!  This vacation is still a work in progress – who knows where we’ll go or what we’ll see.  Just know that tomorrow is downtown Chicago!

  1. Hooray to shopping in downtown Chicago! Be sure to visit Macy’s on Michigan Ave (not the Watertower Place Macy’s, the one that used to be Marshall Field’s). The entire 4th floor is shoes! Also, nearby is Filene’s Basement and I think there’s a TJs or Marshall’s close too. I’m so jealous, but don’t have any money so I’m glad I’m not there. I don’t window shop Chicago very well!

  2. Got your message too late to check out the shoes at macy’s but we did drool over some Manolo’s at Neiman-Marcus.
