Loadin’ Up, Headin’ Out

The motorcycle and trailer are packed sans makeup and hair stuff I’ll use in the morning plus packing the cooler – plans are to be on the road by 7:00 a.m. with a stop at Burl’s favorite spot, Cracker Barrel, for breakfast.  Lunch will be a picnic at a roadside park in Illinois where I can take a walk and my driver can nap – then on to Mundelein outside of Chicago where Burl’s brother and his wife live.  ETA – by 5:00 p.m. – probably sooner!

We’ve spent the evening alternately packing and looking at maps of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan – now that we’ve extended our trip by a few days we’ll have more time to hang out so the hiking poles were added to our gear since we found some great places to hike – including the park with the falls that were the inspiration for Longfellow’s Song of Hiawatha.  Posts will depend on when/where we have computer access – the laptop is staying at home for this trip.  The blackberry goes along!

I had planned to blog last evening after having dinner and doing some shopping with Tammy – even came up with a catchy title while driving home.   To prove that great minds (demented minds?) think alike, she chose the same title – so if you want to read about my Tuesday evening exploits, check out her blog at Pretty Pretty Bang Bang and read “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.”

Welcome to new blogger and co-worker Nancy – one of her first posts includes a great photo of her at her recent wedding in Jamaica.  She’s way ahead of me with the photos – just hope she enjoys writing as much as I enjoy reading her entries.  You can catch her at “It’s Like Bowl-Duck“.   I’m flattered to know that I inspired her to start a blog – I prefer being known as friend and fellow blogger instead of Budget Bitch to her!

Wish us safe travels – I’ll be back soon!

  1. Thanks, Anne… I always enjoy catching up with your and Tammy’s lives via your blogs, so hope that my friends and family will do the same with mine. Have fun on your much-deserved vacation, now that budget is officially DONE!
