My annual work project that’s lovingly known as the “bucking fudget” is now over and done with – tonight was the big presentation to the Board of Directors and after having shown it previously to several sub-committees, tonight’s offering was anti-climatic. But – the fact remains that after my assistant and I clean up some loose ends, the process takes a back seat to running my life for at least 6 months. I compare it to presenting my master’s thesis every year – although my bound master’s presentation was longer and I got a diploma. Tonight I got extraordinary kind words of praise from not only my boss but also the chairman of our board – no diploma, but then I don’t need another one!
Next order of business for our family is to plan our vacation – it’s the annual “Thank God the budget’s over” trip and I’m so ready to be out on the open road with a lot of reading material and my knitting knowing that I don’t have to make many decisions. First the weekend is on the horizon and with temps in the upper 80s I predict one more weekend of pool action! Burl has the travel books and is plotting our course – after all, he’s the one driving the motorcycle.
Congratulations! Now I feel like I can call you at work occasionally.
