Yesterday was the annual “Pancake Ride” to train for the MS150 bicycle ride to be held September 15-16. My normal breakfast routine of fruit and cereal was set aside – I figured after the first 12 miles on the Trek I could eat a couple of pancakes and not worry that the syrup wasn’t sugar-free! My neighbor and I rode together and trying to keep up with someone at least 35 years younger challenged me to a great ride at better-than-average speed for the full 45 miles. I still don’t have too many training miles under my butt this year but there are 9 weeks to go until I do 2 consecutive days of 75+ miles so the bike and I have lots more riding to do.
Thankfully our “green” pool is now back to near-perfect level so after a stop at QT for my drink du jour, I headed home for a shower and an hour or so floating in the pool while I enhanced my brain with the intellectual pursuit of People magazines which Tammy and Ralph left behind. I’m now enlightened with the epiphany Paris had in jail and know just how I should dress if I want to follow the latest Hollywood trends (I don’t!).
Today’s another summer scorcher so I’m heading out to walk the dog before it’s too hot and then the pool will beckon again. I still have one more People mag waiting for me!
