Brotherly Love

Turns out my dear, sweet hubby is not a reader of this blog (his loss!) – but his brother Ed does check in – thanks Ed.  Burl called Ed today just to catch up on life and was a bit disappointed that Ed already knew the family news compliments of this website.  However it was a great chance to catch up on news from Ed’s end and hear plans for their next adventure – a trip to India.

We’ve had another busy week punctuated by long hours at work for me although I did leave by 6:00 last night and we had plenty of time for a 20-mile bicycle ride.  I really needed the time on my bike – or rather I should say my rear needed the time on the bike because come September I’ll be riding 150+ miles in 2 days and I want to be able to sit down the following day.

Daughter Tammy left yesterday for Memphis to attend the SNAG conference and from there will go to Arrowmont for 2 weeks to study further.  I’m proud that my sorority, Pi Beta Phi, founded Arrowmont in 1912 to bring education and economic development to the then-impoverished Appalachian region.  Today it is a nationally recognized center of arts education featuring a wide spectrum of disciplines and an outstanding faculty.  Who knows, Tammy may be among the faculty someday!  However, in the meantime I miss knowing she’s here in town even though I don’t see her often – it’s still fun to call her for a walk and dinner when our guys are busy in the evening.  Plus she’s not posting on her blog and I always enjoy reading what she has to say.

Tomorrow night is couples golf at our club so I’ll have my initial golf outing of the year – I’m glad it’s only 9 holes because my attention span for golf is about 6 holes max!  But it’s Burl’s favorite pasttime and I always enjoy the scramble when we play in the couples league.

Back to David Baldacci – he’s the reason my blogging has suffered this week but I’ve read half of his new book and still have no clue how it will end (other than the obvious way the relationship is heading from platonic to romantic between the main characters!).

  1. I tried to encourage her to disconnect from the grid for a bit. I heard from her this morning and she’s having fun in Memphis–ask her about the kegger…
