Where did the week go?   Leave a comment

Just realized I haven’t written since last Saturday – we were in Phoenix then, came home on Sunday evening and the week seems to have flown by.  Not that I mind Friday looming on the horizon but time seems to be zipping by.  Stopped by the library on the way home this evening and picked up the new David Baldacci book, “Simple Genius”.  I told the librarian that I’d like to have about 4 days with nothing to do but float in the pool and read – I’m sure it will happen some day but sure not gonna happen anytime soon.

This afternoon my assistant and I flipped a switch to test our new budget software with a guinea pig department head – it worked  – so tomorrow we go full force.  We started this project on February 6th and I’ll have to admit I had my doubts that we’d actually meet our deadline but we did.  Our consultant leaves tomorrow morning and we’ll be flying on our own so to speak.  At times like this I have to reflect on what’s been accomplished to stay focused on what’s ahead at work for the summer – looks like another season of working half days (i.e. 12 hours!) but I’m blessed to work with a wonderful group of people which makes the job much easier.

Daughter Tammy made a good call this week when she signed up for 2 weeks at Arrowmont to study Granulation and Enameling.  She attended a class in the spring of 2006 and has been wanting to return so I’m pleased she’s going to fork over the $ and go.  I’m secretly jealous of what sounds like 2 weeks of camp for me – the downside would be having to use my right brain extensively!

Busy weekend ahead – Saturday we’re involved in Bikers for Boys and Girls Town – the 2nd annual motorcycle rally to benefit this outstanding organization.  My involvement has been limited on the planning committee but Burl has devoted an inordinate amount of time and any success we achieve will be due in large part to his efforts.  Saturday evening and Sunday we’ll help entertain a group of Rotarians from New Zealand.  I’m looking forward to a fun couple of days with my mind NOT on work.

PS – thanks to friend Nancy who let me know she reads my blog – I’m never sure who (if anyone) reads what I write so I appreciated her comments very much.
