Trekkin’

My Trek and I got out today and 32 miles and a sore rear later had completed the first ride of the season.  It was a beautiful day – blue skies with a few wispy clouds, birds chirping, lots of wildflowers by the road and very little traffic on one of my favorite routes.  I even managed to scale a short, steep hill early in the ride without shifting into Granny gear – it’s one of those hills where you start on the flats so there’s no previous downhill to propel you partway up it – and that hill is always the hallmark of my riding!  So for me it was a big deal to get up it in middle gear – in fact I stayed in the middle chain ring for the whole ride so got a great workout.

Got home, took a quick shower and since Burl was playing golf, I did what any self-respecting female does when there’s a shoe sale at Dillard’s – I went shoe shopping.  Scored 3 pair but one of them will need to be reviewed by my fashionista daughter – she will either tell me they are really cool or totally geeky!  They remind me of something her Nana would have worn – gold sandals with clear plastic across the front and some rhinestones thrown in for good measure.  They are so completely non-me and I have no idea where/when I’ll ever wear them but I thought they were fun.  Let’s see what Tammy thinks!  Also got a pair of silver leather flats with peep toe (they come with a removable ankle strap that I found uncomfortable so it’s now off) and a pair of deep red patent flats.

We’re heading out now in the MG to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a summer evening in the convertible.  What are the odds it will rain on us?  I’m taking an umbrella just in case!

  1. Looking forward to seeing your shoes. I ventured over to Dillard’s today for a quick look at the shoes. Nothing interesting left in my size. They did have the metallic flats like you got, but I talked myself out of them. I have other shoes I’m eyeing right now. I hope to score big in August when they mark all the summer shoes to 75% off.

  2. Hopefully you can see them tomorrow night – I’m still not 100% convinced about them but I’ll see what you think.

  3. I saw them and they are awful. I’m sure I wasn’t subtle with my opinion. Basically, you can do much, much better. Save your money for something fun.
