High School Revisited   Leave a comment

Daughter Tammy posted this on her blog and the instructions say the longer ago you were a senior in high school, the more fun the answers will be!  In my case the tricky part will be remembering that long ago but here goes!

Fill this out about your SENIOR year of high school! The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be.

  1. Who was your best friend? Sally
  2. What sports did you play? This was in the pre-Title IX days so females didn’t play sports.
  3. What kind of car did you drive?  I drove the family car when I could get it – I think my senior year that was a 1955 or 1956 big black Buick or Olds – whatever it was, it was a Land Yacht and it was made by General Motors!
  4. It’s Friday night, where were you? Usually hanging out with my girlfriends – at football or basketball games during those seasons – going to the movies and then out for pizza – probably scoping out the college guys.
  5. Were you a party animal? Nope.
  6. Were you considered a flirt? I don’t think so – not sure I knew how to flirt.
  7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Not my senior year – my freshman and sophomore years I played clarinet in the marching band.
  8. Were you a nerd?  Absolutely!  Card-carrying!
  9. Did you get suspended/expelled? No – don’t even think I came close.
  10. Can you sing the fight song? Sure can – it’s called “For Every Fulton Boy” and I still know all the words!  Just ask me.
  11. Who was your favorite teacher? Mrs. Bakalar – my Senior English teacher
  12. Favorite class? English, Trig, Chemistry (told you I was a nerd)
  13. What was your school’s full name? Fulton High School
  14. School mascot? Hornet
  15. Did you go to the Prom?  Yes – my date was Bruce Brown who was just a good friend – I wore a yellow short strapless formal and thought I looked so good!  Prom was held on the gym floor in our high school auditorium – don’t remember the theme but Barbara Cloud was our Prom Queen.
  16. If you could go back and do it over, would you? Once was sufficient although it would be fun to go back in time for just a day.
  17. What do you remember most about graduation? I had a date after graduation with a really geeky college guy – we drove to Columbia with some friends – nothing too remarkable.
  18. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends? A few – really didn’t date much.
  19. Where were you on senior skip day?  We went to Glover Lake I think – don’t remember much about it.  Our big deal was our senior trip to Chicago – took the train out of St. Louis on a Friday night and came back on Tuesday night.  I think that was my first time in Chicago.
  20. Did you have a job your senior year?  Yes – worked after school and half days on Saturday at Stewart’s Book Store – best perk of the job was meeting all the college guys who shopped there – only book store in town!
  21. Where did you go most often for lunch? Either Bummy’s market for sandwiches, Dairy Queen on North Bluff (could walk to both of those) or if someone had a car we went to Dog & Suds.  I had a study hall that was split on either side of my lunch and lots of times Linda Sims and I would cut 2nd half of study hall and take longer for lunch.  It helped that the study hall monitor was the young hunk asst. football coach who was also friends with my sister and brother-in-law.
  22. Have you gained weight since then? Gained and lost, but still weigh more than I did then.
  23. What did you do after graduation? Drury College
  24. When did you graduate? 1963
  25. Who was your Senior prom date? Bruce Brown
  26. Are you going to your 10-year reunion? Didn’t go to a reunion until #25 – have been to 30, 35 and 40 – next on the agenda is 45 in 2008.
  27. Who was your home room teacher? Can’t remember.
  28. Who will repost this after you? Have no idea – not even sure who reads my drivel.
  29. Do you miss anyone you graduated with? I still see a few of them – one guy is in our local motorcycle chapter and a group of us get together once a year when we’re in Fulton to meet with our CPA.  I wasn’t that close to anyone in my class because my best friend Sally (still a close friend) went to Hickman High School in Columbia.
  30. Are you friends with the person who posted this? Yes – I’ve known her since before she was born!!!

So who’s going to read this post and respond with their info?  Great way to find out about your friends!
