Today I discovered some fabulous information – the kind of stuff Oprah hasn’t yet revealed!  How To Lose 10 Pounds and Look 10 Years Younger in 60 Days – the secret is to RETIRE!  Former boss Norb dropped by the office to gloat over all of us in our professional attire and to remind me once again to not wait too long to follow his lead.  But like I always have said, I was born beautiful and smart – but not rich (or thin)!!!  Ha Ha!  Oh well it will be fun to give his formula a try in a few years.

Keith Richards today revealed that among his bad-boy tricks was snorting cocaine mixed with his father’s ashes.  All I can say is “DISGUSTING” – but then he was never my favorite Stone (that honor will forever be reserved for Mick Jagger).  If you’re wondering where this is going, I’m going to tell you about the final resting place of my parents.  In fact, as I type this they are peering down at me from the top of my bookcase where they are matching oak bookends – or more accurately, their ashes reside in the oak cubes that serve as bookends.  When my dad died in May 1997 I chose the first oak urn at my mother’s instructions of “don’t spend too much on the urn” – the funeral director knew her and her frugal ways quite well and immediately directed me to this urn and assured me it was his low-budget offering.  I liked it because as an oak block it came from a live object and it was beautiful to boot.

A few months later when my mom died, I chose a matching urn for her.  I then faced the question of what to do with them – daughter Tammy came up with the perfect solution – make them into bookends since they both loved to read.  I think they are probably peering down from Heaven getting quite a kick out of being “useful and decorative” after their time on earth – which is usually more than I can manage while I’m still alive!

Went by the library tonight and picked up a few books.  Last week I started 2 and didn’t get page 20 on either of them – they came highly recommended by Oprah but I didn’t agree with her literary choices this time.  I’m almost done with “Give It Up” and you’ll get a book review soon.  Speaking of reading……..why am I blogging when I could be curled up with a good book.  Catch you later………..

  1. 1. Yes, Keith Richards is a bizarre, disgusting man. Personally, no offense mom, but I just don’t need to be that close to my parents.

    2. Grammie and Keck are very comfortable, I’m sure. They would get a kick out of knowing they’re comfortable in your library. Plus, Keck would enjoy the fact you saved money on not buying a plot.

    3. Haven’t you learned not to listen to Oprah? When I quit working for OPT I decided to read Oprah books. After about 4, I quit. They were all boring and depressing. Bleah.

  2. Today Keith reported it was an April’s Fools prank – now he’s not only disgusting, he’s totally tasteless and sick – but then I already knew that.
