Change, Change, Change

Sung to the tune of “Chain of Fools”, this was the rallying cry of the opening song of “Menopause, The Musical” which I saw earlier this week.  Springfield was the recipient of a traveling off-broadway run of this popular show and it was no surprise that the full-house audience was 99% female and 50+ – and I certainly fit those demographics!  I may never join the Red Hats but I was happy to join others on stage for the closing chorus line to proclaim “I’ve Changed”!  I enjoyed a fun evening with a good friend and more importantly, celebrated who I am – and after several decades I’ve finally decided that, yes, I actually CAN live with the person I am (most of the time!).

I’m enjoying the warmer weather and Mulligan thinks it’s great when I can get home before 6:00 and we can take a quick walk – what a great tonic for us both.  Seeing the crocusus burst forth in the yards means that spring really will arrive in a few weeks and even better, daylight savings time will start this weekend meaning I’ll have no excuse not to get out with my canine friend and exercise after work.    In fact this weekend may be a good time to start looking through my closet for those early spring items I can wear now and say adios to the more wintery items that can go into hibernation until next year.  Daughter Tammy tells me that fashion-wise, women over 40 should steer clear of capri pants but since she’s not going to follow that advice, I won’t either.

Finished “Good in Bed” by Jennifer Weiner last night – it was the first book by her that I had read and it definitely qualifies as vacation reading.  I got mildly irritated with her lead character and her refusal to get over her ex-boyfriend plus she kept lamenting over her size – I just wanted to tell her to shut up and deal with it!  Fellow blogger Cindy commented on one of her books earlier in the week and I could tell we were in agreement on this author.   On to the next book – “Give it Up!” – which friend Suzanne sent to me.

  1. Just to clarify – I mentioned on my blog that Tim Gunn doesn’t approve of crop pants on women over 40. Personally, I’ll be wearing them and ignore his advice.

I’m also getting spring fever and have put away some of my heavier winter sweaters. However, living in Missouri has taught us that we can enjoy 60 degree weather one day, and 20 the next.
