That old saying about why young people have babies is 100% correct – and 3 days of chasing and being entertained by a 14-month old grandbaby is proof. Isabella (Bella) spent a few days with us while her parents went to Winter Park, CO to ski. She is a delightful young lady – very easy baby as far as eating and naps go – very good-natured most of the time – but my sore biceps can attest to the fact that I’m not used to picking up and carrying 20+ pounds of active weight.
I realized at 10:00 last night that I hadn’t really sat down since church yesterday morning – unless I was feeding Bella or reading to her or singing her bedtime songs. Once the empty nest set in on me many years ago I relished my time each day for reading so when I have to forego that pleasure (perhaps that should read “necessity”) I really notice it – but I did get to read a couple of good toddler books so they should count! On the Monday morning drive to work I realized I was going back to work to relax! We did have fun though and being with a toddler makes you stop and appreciate what’s really important in life – thanks Bella for that reminder.
